I was born in Hiroshima, Japan, and grew up surrounded by the bounty of nature that both nurtured and inspired me. In my homeland I studied the ancient floral art of Ikebana, and this has profoundly influenced my design aesthetic over the last twenty-five years.
I moved to Canada in 1997 and then spent time traveling and learning new styles and techniques in Europe, South East Asia, and North America. I particularly enjoyed the experience of working in a contemporary shop in Amsterdam.
In 2010 I decided to pursue my interest in pottery through classes with well known potters in Toronto and Japan. Most recently I have been developing my skills while working independently at a local studio. I have been creatively inspired through the use of natural materials including shells, seeds and corals to create one-of-a kind vessels to showcase my Kokedama, a modern Japanese bonsai method of growing plants in balls of moss.
I use orchids, succulents and air plants to bring life into the human environment, while incorporating my unique pottery vessels in a contemporary style that is both pleasing to the eye and whimsical. I also make wonderful little tea pots, cups and bud vases for your favourite blooms.
