ABOUT

Meet Upcycling It, the makers of the most eye-popping table and wall art like you've never seen before.

Mixing form, function, vintage albums and original images cut directly from classic magazines, books, album sleeves and more, we bring you handcrafted ceramic coasters, table-turning trays and classic-album wallboards designed to meet just about every taste in music, film, TV, advertising, sports, politics, celebrity and art.

Meticulously crafted with choice Canadian-made materials and obsessive love, each Upcycling It piece is authentically one-of-a-kind (we NEVER reprint or reproduce an image) and the perfect gift for any man, woman or child.

Launched in January 2016, we mix it up daily – upcrafting our coaster, tray and wallboard collections and producing custom work for clients near and far. We're always happy to hear from you if you have any questions or requests, or just to say hey. Even better, book an appointment to visit our studio and showroom in mid-town Toronto - the only place you'll ever see our entire collection, including our famous library of vintage magazines and albums just waiting to be upcycled.

Meet Leah, co-creator and chief crafteur at Upcycling It.

A former online retailer, episodic TV writer, post-production editor, kid-lit author and all-round ingénue, Leah puts the hand in every one of our brilliantly handcrafted collections.

Her crafting expertise, unique creative vision and unstoppable energy is reflected in her ability to make the impossibly fabulous even better, everyday!

Meet Sam, co-creator and chief curateur at Upcycling It.

A lover of all things ironic and iconic, Sam’s success as a journalist, magazine editor, copywriter, marketing strategist and content producer plays into her uncanny ability to hit our clients smack-dab in their sweetspot.

Her passion for curating pop-cultural images while imagining new ways to modernize classic materials is only half the story. The other half is an “ancient Chinese secret.”

WHY WE'RE ONE OF A KIND

We're actually two of a kind, but whatever.

Everything we do is one of a kind!

We mix materials like you’ve never seen, creating product that is entirely unique and non-replicable. Every image we work with is cut directly from an original vintage source. Once a piece is sold, it's gone for good. We never reprint or reproduce a thing, and we never use digital images. Our library of pre-loved magazines, books, vinyl and more is second to none and growing everyday. We curate images to dazzle every taste and demographic. We also looove sourcing images and vinyl for custom requests.

Every cut, brushstroke and finish is executed by hand. Our table art is as stunning and high impact as it is high functioning and durable. Our wallboards - featuring original, vintage vinyl album covers - are hand-painted front to back, finished with our hand-poured resin and always include a bonus surprise on the flip side.

Our collections are the brainchildren of our imagination and skill. The creative choices we make are a personal reflection of our well-honed expertise in the history of music, film, TV, advertising and pop culture, coupled with keen market insights and our collective ingenuity. We are personally attached to every piece we produce, bringing an enthusiasm and passion to every part of the process. Like water for chocolate, the love we pour into making and marketing our products shines through in every piece we create.

Because of the image-driven nature of our products and our unique use of vintage vinyl and pop-culture imagery, we are the first people in the history of the world to have created the ultimate man gift out of handcrafted coasters, trays and wall art.

And because everything we do at Upcycling It is truly one of a kind, our products persistently serve as conversation pieces with built-in bragging rights. No, your friends and admirers can't have what you have, but they're sure to find something as personally relevant, useful and unique to them. We make sure of it. Everyday. And we love it!
