Over the past 9 years I have been learning new skills in the field of textiles. Previously in the UK, after completing a Fine Art Degree, I had been creating a variety of sculptural work from recycled Cutlery. Having worked with metal for 16 years I wanted the challenge of working in a new medium and could do wherever I traveled. I was interested in working with wool and that my finished pieces would be felted as I love the look and feel felt has, as well as its durability. Initially I only knew the basics in how to knit or crochet but realized after a lot of experimentation that with crochet I could create interesting shapes and forms which ultimately led to being able to devise my own patterns. Making hats meant I could maintain a sculptural element in my work. I also enjoy playing with different textures and colour combinations. I learnt how to Needle felt to add final detailing onto my creations. I have mainly focused on designing and making felted hats, but also make headbands, bags and scarves. So far I have concentrated on using wool, mohair and alpaca, as well as occasionally using recycled woolen clothing.
My love of Art Deco inspires my creations as well as taking inspiration from nature and interesting shapes that I notice around me.
In 2013 I received the Silver in ‘Excellence in Craft’ at the Circle Craft Xmas Show in Vancouver.

WHY WE'RE ONE OF A KIND
I am continually thinking of new designs and have always tried to be unique with my work. It is important to me to feel that my work stands out both because of the freshness of the design and the high standard of workmanship. All my work is designed and handmade by myself.
100% wool, felted.
