Photographs taken by Pascal Normand in 2017 in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montreal, Qc.

It is in Hochelaga, say the front door of the district on the west side. The two main buildings present are separated by Moreau Street. And under railways pass Ontario Street. To the left there is a building that was originally known various industrial vocations and today would be fully occupied as a rental space: Studios Giovanelli . It is found primarily creators are various companies and creative field. It is an imposing building or among others by its white color but also because it is the only (or almost) in the surroundings, to rise as high. Right, 2019 Moreau, also known as The Lofts Moreau. Controversial subject because of the eviction there a few years ago - see In support of the 2019 Moreau . It originally is a building owned by Grover where it manufactured fine lingerie.

An imposing white giant in apparent decrepitude but teeming with liveliness and creativity inside. Opposite, a kind of industrial cousin dressed all in brick with a water tower in an original form and rather rare these days. One of these two elements of the built environment Hochelaga appears to me much more mythical than another and will certainly marked my neighbor imagination of the Rue Saint-Germain. And my 3 year old son to say, when looked up: "Look Dad, it's your job" ... His imagination, like mine, will carry the trace of this landmark structure and remind him, the coup d ' eye of my works, he was born in this neighborhood, Hochelaga.
