Delmar Woodcraft

Detlev Friese
and Marilyn & Adam Friese

Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

Detlev (Del) started Delmar Woodcraft in 1978. His wife Marilyn joined him in 1994 and tends to the day to day operations and deals with client relations. His son Adam joined him 15 years ago and learned the art of custom cabinetry from his father, who is self taught. Adam in his own right, in 15 years, has become an Accomplished Cabinetmaker. The three of us design and build custom furniture for the many clients with commissioned pieces across South Western Ontario. We pride ourselves on Canadiana craftsmanship, using milk paint, stains and glazes to achieve an aged look. We have also developed a small line of accessory pieces for the home decor market and take just as much pride in building them. It gives us a sense of accomplishment.

Why We’re One of a Kind

This is a small operation and because we are small it allows us to give a certain amount of attention to detail. We do not mass market anything. Each piece that we do is with the customer in mind. Over our 35 years working with milk paints and the way we apply and work with it . Our construction methods whether it be hand cut dovetails or motise and tenon, and some detailed hand carving has earned us the reputation of being unique in our field.

Primary Materials

Milk Paint, North American woods, stains, with eco friendly finishes. All products are worn/distressed to give an aged appearance. Please note that colors may vary slightly from what you see on the screen and from one batch of paint to another, as all is hand mixed.
