This bird feeder in Copper and Cedar is a nice way to combine outdoor design and bird watching. This model is called the Bonnet shape, it is 9" hight, 5 1/4" wide and 8" large. (Two other shapes are also available.) It comes with the carabiner and the airplane cable to hang it easily right when you receive it.
You put the seeds at the top (in the cork hole) putting the feeder on its side (cork hole facing up). Fill the reservoir fully, and put back the cork to plug the hole. Then turn quickly the feeder back in its hanged position, the seeds will slide down the sides to fill the little space at the bottom, so they are accessible for the bird to eat. As the birds will eat them and the level will go down, more seeds will come from the side. It will go like that until all seeds are eaten, then you'll need to fill it up again !
Best seeds are the ones with no shells (otherwise shells will stay there and make a mess at the bottom where the birds eat, and no more fresh seeds will go down). Peanuts and sunflower seeds work best.
As for cleaning, we shake it before putting new seeds in, but it won't get too messy as the copper is sealed with a roofing technique at the top, so it won't get wet inside.
