Found on the shores of Golden Lake, two white cedar trees, that had grown together, fell together. Their beauty was hidden by a mass of soil and rocks. The trees were harvested by Blair McMillan (the owner of Golden Lake Rustics) and his good friend Casey. After more than three hours of hard labour, these young men were able to wrestle this beautiful, neglected beast into a 14 foot boat. The boat had to be driven very slowly and very carefully so as not to capsize and lose this treasure. Four kilometers later, they had arrived, but Footsies journey was only beginning!
In the Spring of 2016, the perfect tree was found to create the table top for Footsies. Another friend, Matty, joined Blair and Casey in what was supposed to be a perfect work day. Then the rain started to fall in buckets! The 3 men persevered with their task. They cut the tree and peeled the bark in the pouring rain. The log lay silent for a full year and in doing so, nature took its course, discolouring the log in the best possible way. Named Footsies, for obvious reasons, this grand artistic piece has three types of wood: a white cedar base, a white spruce burl top and an insert of aged driftwood.
