Laura Slack is a Toronto based artisan chocolatier and pastry chef. An avid baker since childhood, Laura honed her passion through a combination of formal education and practical work experience. After graduating from U of T with a degree in Science, Laura began her training through the Baking and Pastry Arts program at George Brown College. She then completed the professional chocolatier program at Ecole Chocolat and attended the prestigious Callebaut Academy.
Laura's industry experience began as a Pastry Chef for David Lee at Nota Bene in Toronto where she discovered her passion for working with chocolate. Laura went on the complete an internship at Knipshildt chocolatier in Norwalk, Connecticut before returning to Toronto to start her own company. Her signature Dulce de Leche Skull is available in addition to the full collection of fresh truffles at her Truffle Boutique in McEwan Foods in the Shops at Don Mills. In addition, Laura has her own store under the name Maisonette in the Distillery District where her Drink of the Gods Ultimate Drinking Chocolate is a popular feature at the Toronto Christmas Market.
Each of Laura's pieces are are the result of multiple iterations of recipe development until the perfect flavour balance is achieved. Each bite is a handmade piece of visual and edible art.
