I am a wood artisan who makes live edged cheese boards, placemats, and tables. Each of my pieces is unique because each is shaped as Mother Nature made them in each tree we use. Our cheese boards and placemats are cross cuts from logs, showing all of the rings in the tree's grain. Some have bark remaining and some have let their bark go. We use only recycled wood and eco friendly finishes. What we make are practical dining resources and artistic works of beauty to help us dine together with the bounty of our good earth.
In our shop, we are part of birthing reclaimed wood into new life for the tables of our homes. Our natural edge cheese boards, placemats, tables, and tea lite candle holders ,crafted from various types of wood, are food safe, rustic, artistic, hand-made, and environmentally healthy. As much as possible, we are "green Canadian artisans", sourcing locally, using repurposed wood, and finishing with human- friendly products.
We treat our cheese boards with 10 coats of hemp seed oil and two coats of a hemp seed oil and beeswax mixture which we make ourselves. We follow the shape and contours of the slices of a log grown by Mother Nature. No two are identical. The pictures we offer on our site of cheese boards and placemats are photo examples of the particular species of wood and size of board we are advertising for sale. They will not be exactly like the board you order, but will be similar. We finish our placemats and live edge tables with a hard wax/oil durable finish called Osmo, which consists of three naturally occurring oils and two naturally occurring waxes. Each of our products is distinct and truly one of a kind. PLEASE NOTE OUR WORKSHOP/STUDIO WILL BE CLOSED FROM WED., MARCH 27 TO FRIDAY, APRIL 12
