I was trained in studio arts at UQAM university in Montreal where is discovered the media of ceramics. I then went to get a professional training in functional pottery to learn how to make art that is useful in everyday life. My creative drive is to experiment through play with matter and to push the technical limits of ceramics. I developed an expertise with colored clay, a technique that's called nerikomi, by trial and error since about 3 years now. I find my inspirations in the precariousness of clay while having fun diverting classic techniques to create a material and visual singularity. Always keeping the function in mind, I want to see my artworks integrate the daily life, I wish to inspire, and to bring a little touch of magic to everyday life.
My ceramic practice is a modern and intuitive take on nerikomi techniques. The patterns in my pieces are inspired by various imagery from different scientific fields, landscapes, and pop culture, with a festive and playful touch with recurring patterns of confetti, festoons, and explosions. I create capsule collections every seasons that evoke a particular mood, or a subconscious memory of the collective experience. I see my pieces as vessels that invite travel through reverie and nostalgia.
