I started making furniture for a living in 1985 and later established my own studio in 2010 on our rural property in Southwestern Ontario. Family, not employees, help me make one-of-a-kind, bespoke, and limited edition studio furniture and accessories, as well as custom millwork.
Our design vocabulary is anchored in the Arts & Crafts tradition, and all of our work is hand made; but we incorporate rustic, Asian, Danish Modern, and other design influences in a style that is clearly modern. Excellence of design and craftsmanship guides our passion to produce artifacts that will be treasured and timeless.
Living meaningful lives means doing meaningful things. For us, part of that is making objects that will give other people a lifetime of enjoyment and satisfaction.
It seems a cliché to say that we examine carefully every piece of wood in each project, but it is literally true of every conscientious craftsman. Each piece of wood is unique, some more obviously so than others. Therefore, for those objects that are designed around a specific piece of wood, that uniqueness is manifested in the form.
Additionally, part of a designer's passion is to provide something fresh, vibrant, living.
Both of these truths drive the development of unique — one of a kind — furniture. Though we also do limited edition and studio lines for some pieces, even they are constantly evolving, providing clients with pieces that, like themselves, are unique individuals.
Our furniture and accessories are made entirely of wood, excepting parts like hardware or upholstered seats. We use only Ontario wood, locally sourced and responsibly harvested or salvaged. Our finishes are made from natural oils and waxes and are hand rubbed.
For furniture and millwork items we deliver personally to the GTA and regions westward to London. For smaller items we use FedEx or an alternate courier specified by the client. Arrangements can be made to serve clients who require long distance shipping of larger items.
